Some of you may like our Tractor Boys nickname, I personally can’t stand it, but I understand it came into being twenty-five years ago as a self-deprecatory chant from our away fans. It stuck – seemingly forever. Now consider what other fans will have in store for us in the coming months. Is it being far fetched to imagine there may be some opposing home or away fans who may have a few choice chants in store, possibly a raised right arm (or two thousand)? Polite queries to our overseas players? The odd disapproving commentator raising the saga? What if Reform actually form a government, do we become ‘their’ club? Images are even more potent, the one of Farage holding the No. 10 shirt aloft is even already the default one media shows when referencing the story. It is now around forever, period. We have an uncomfortable future, either short term or probably long term, all due to the shortsightedness of our chairman. Now I understand that if you happen to agree with Nigel Farage’s views and party then this is not such a huge issue. I’m no hypocrite, if it had been Ed Davey or Keir Starmer involved I would not have been so angry. I would still have known it was wrong through. Politics is becoming more divisive, even tribal, and Ashton should have thought of that. Even people on this forum who do wonder what all the fuss is about might like to consider how they would have reacted if it had been Jeremy Corbyn or Zack Polanski, not Nigel Farage involved. No, Ashton should have resigned or been sacked immediately, and one or two of the directors immediately come out, say it was a mistake, and disassociate the club with Reform completely.

The club has STILL not distanced itself from Farage or reform. It has not expressed any regret at assisting Farage with a promotional campaign. It has not said that Farage's values are not the clubs and that the impression of endorsement given, is wrong.

Farage's visit was a blatant campaigning event - facilitated by ITFC. It would have tarnished the club regardless of what colour rosette the visitor had. As it happens it makes it the worst of all worlds because its Farage.

There's going to be both implications in the stands, on the pitch and off the pitch. Recruitment etc.. you name it. Before we get into the way he's behaved and the wrong of his actions, By keeping him in place and not distancing ourselves we're actively f*ing ourselves. I'm assuming they like to see themselves as 'pragmatic' given their probable leanings, so open your eyes, he's got to go. [Post edited 28 Mar 11:46]

Ashton's "apology" can be summed up as follows: "I apologise unreservedly, but I won't say what I'm apologising for. The lies told in the immediate aftermath weren't a great idea but I won't take any responsibility for those. Inviting a controversial right wing politician wasn't a great idea so we won't invite any more politicos to PR - okay?"

Ah I see. You’re a “thicko” if you don’t align with your views on the matter? I’ve no skin in the game. I’ve no time for any politicians and I still don’t agree with you trying to force a man out of his employment because he hurt your feelings.

In your own personal case it's seems to be your lack of basic comprehension that makes you a thicko. My feeling are not mentioned at any point across what I've said, which is mostly pragmatic reasoning as to why he has to go. Those who don't seem to align with those views would seem to have a certain political leaning themselves and just want it swept under the rug. I myself do not have any political skin in this game either. What if I told you that he hurt my feelings by clearly not being fit any longer to be employed in his role. Is that a simple enough framing for you.

I’m going for dinner and and few drinks with my beautiful wife. Hope you enjoy your afternoon being wound up about a thing of nothing on the forum and abusing strangers. 😃
