Jerry Dammers did a great job of reworking ska classics with his edgy, political lyrics.
I first saw the Specials at Hammersmith Palais in 1980 when they attracted a hard core skinhead following , some of whom enjoyed covering the lead singer of the support band, the Swinging Cats, in spittle.

Their first album is rare because there is not a bad track on it, so difficult to single one out.

As regards their other songs, Rat Race stands out but Hey Little Rich Girl is very good too.

Two very strong albums from the original line up.
Both quite different, with More Specials being a little darker in it's lyrics I think.
I also really enjoyed their comeback LP, Encore, though I didn't care too much for the follow up.

Some top tracks already mentioned.
I always liked the extended dub version of Stereotype but for their best track, I probably can't look past Ghost Town.
All the more poignant now that Terry is no longer around to sing it.
