| Google Nest/Spotify: Anyone else experienced this? 11:01 - Apr 9 with 533 views | FBI | I have a Spotify Premium account and five Amazon Alexa devices at home as well as, it would seem, not much of a life. I'm also Chair of Trustees at my local museum: in one of the rooms there's a 1940s radio with a Google Nest smart speaker stuffed in the back. Using my Spotify a/c (I'm in there the 3 days we're open so nobody else is using my Spotify then anyway) I fire up a Wartime Songs playlist which, of course, sounds like it's coming through the radio. So far, so good and very effective. But the dratted Google Nest now seems incapable of finding the playlist. "Hey Google: play my Museum War Playlist" or a variation on that gets 1970s Afro-Funk Rock Band War, something called Museum or any variation thereof. Anything EXCEPT the one I want. But I can play on the device from the office desktop, museum laptop or my phone so it's purely the voice command that's the issue. I've tried going into the settings, unlinking/linking etc and nothing has any effect. The speaker is one of those free ones with Spotify preloaded they were giving away a few years ago. fwiw. Before I dump it and buy an Alexa, has anyone experienced this and managed to fix it? And no, I can't just run the computer/phone to speakers otherwise all my other sounds would be coming out in the Social History Room too, not great for video conferencing, for example. I ask for "Dollers Driving Home Playlist" and it gives me bloody Chris Rea! You can go into settings a re-do your voice but that doesn't seem to have helped me. | |

The only thing I can think of, for both of you is to try renaming the playlist into something else, and keep trying variations until it works. Cars can be noisy so maybe hard for the microphone to pick up what you're saying, but I've a "road trip playlist" which always seems to play ok for me.

Tried that to no avail :-(

Yeah, I've actually done that and forgot to be fair! Doesn't fix that actual issue, but is a good work around. You just have to name stuff bizarrely, so it can't get confused with anything else!
