Teachers are striking through the exam period - kids and parents are kicking off. Two opposing links for fairness (if anyone's interested), but quite an interesting situation, I reckon: https://socialistworker.co.uk/ https://www.msn.com/en-gb/mone | |

| Walthamstow news (sorry): A demonstration against striking teachers on 21:40 - May 11 with 185 views | Perublue | I’m really torn on some roles in society.. there are the teachers , nurses , fireman , police , army , priests(I know they aren’t civil servants)etc, etc who I do see taking up these roles as a vocation and therefore some kind of sacrifice for the greater good and not in any way to become rich or even close to that.. but feel there is no way they should be taken advantage of by any government in how they are paid and treated. I think I’m even more militant in thinking that on both sides of the argument when I’m currently living in a country where the fireman are volunteers and not paid at all and the teachers are paid a real pittance and not a lower middle class pittance… and the schools and health service are initially seen as businesses first and social and national rights second. Knowing all these roles are so important to have a functioning and good society is a logistical nightmare. | |
