If my experience from last June is anything to go by, that stripy-ass bitch be checking out yo’ house vents for potential nesting material…

Give it a month, you’ll have wasps in the west wing every time you open the patio doors and be paying someone in head to toe protective gear eighty quid to fumigate the l’il basta*ds into oblivion…

That might have been me asking about bees.

Edit...perhaps it was a small hornet!

Along the lane in our new house around September we noticed small wasps borrowing into the ground in great numbers along ours and our neighbours' front gardens. I eventually determined them to be (stingless, non-hive building) ivy bees and decided to leave the weeds growing where they'd burrowed. They're not due out again until after summer, google says.

The heat has driven a bunch of them into our bedroom, and I'm still none the wiser as to how or why. Loads of them dead in just one room when we get back from work. Poor feckers.

That's OK, I let the servants have the run of the west wing.

I didn't know you could 'pay someone in head', does one need to inform the tax man when one does that?

Nippon, the ant killer, also works on wasps nests, but you have to be able to get to the entrance to the next, and wear protective clothing when doing it - tights stretched so they are kept away from the face have worked for me in the past.

Last summer the wasps nest was higher than previous ones, and my wife wasn't keen for me to go on a ladder, so I left if for much of the summer. But I eventually got rid of it by a method which involved the use of a very long pole.
