I still think there is only a very small possibilty 11:16 - Jun 3 with 3151 viewsmuccletonjoe

Of McKenna going to Fulham. I know he almost left the last time we were promoted to the Premier league.
That was before the horrendous season we had up against the top teams.
If Fulham supporters are reticent about his appointment, this is where it stems from
and in my opinion it would be a bold move by both club and manager to make.
The fall out for us would be considerable, a new manager could quite possibly adopt a different style / formation , want different players brought to the club, and more importantly , want others out of the door.
Big, big decision for all concerned. One thing abundantly clear , is if McKenna doesn't go to Fulham , he wont be leaving for pastures new this summer .

Do you know him?

It doesn’t sound like you do. He agreed terms with Brighton. He was very close to agreeing with Palace.

He didn’t only stay for loyalty or because he’d had success and a connection. He stayed when owners flew in, made him one of the best paid managers in the league, more than Brighton would pay a manager with zero days PL experience, and more than Silva was paid at the time. With a promise to spend £120 million in a single window, and more in January if needed, which we delivered.

He stayed because with more money than god, he’d sold himself, Ashton, and the owners that the base case was staying up…., you know the rest.

He’s lifted his skirt to ANY club that would progress his career.

You don’t signal interest through your agent unless you want to leave, or get even more money at your current club.

£5 million. No club ever paid that in the EFL…, we have some fans saying we should pay MORE to keep him.

For context that’s saying he’s a European manager AT LEAST.., he hasn’t justified that level on contract, he hasn’t had a successful month at this level, let alone season.

The levels are staggering. If EFL success warranted world class contracts. Steve Bruce would be Barcelona boss.

EFL is miles off. And this group is actually no better than the legacy group who got us 96 points ahead of a Leeds team that then won promotion and SECURED premier league survival. Do you think Millwall will do that? And they don’t have Leeds’ legacy investment either.

Last season wasn’t elite. It wasn’t even Burnley levels.

That’s the reality. He won’t get a pay rise this time.., so he will leave, Evans she’s always been obsessed with his career above anything and we always were a proxy for that.

Nothing wrong with it. Good luck to him, he’s earned that for sure, 100 times over, couldn’t have done much more.

But at £5 million a year it’s an exciting opportunity. I don’t have faith in Ashton. But at that level there are managers available whose careers with dwarf McKennas in the here and now, and in the future.

As good a coach as KM is, and I’m not sure he’s top half premier league, he’s not good at many management skills like talent id, clearly. So he needs to be careful where he lands, Fulham are hit and miss - he shouldn’t have been so greedy and demanded £5 million plus from Brighton…, should have gone where talent id is elite. He’d likely have thrived.

McKenna back in the EFL with Fulham. I wouldn’t rule it out…, aging squad, wasting money.., who knows.

I do know it’s as big an opportunity for us as it is a threat.

We can do a million times worse than McKenna, but at that level, we can also do better.

Remember the good times, remember the level they were at, and celebrate those, he did great, but he’s not what you project…., it’s you that’s emotionally blind, not him.

That's a perfect post - pragmatic and accurate.

Of course you've been downvoted and abused for it but that's modern day Town fans - who are honestly and genuinely delusional.

Promoted to the Prem for the second time in 3 years - nobody wants to buy any of our players and none of our players have improved in skill or value. We are f@@ked.

Ashton has done us over, big time and KM knows it.

If perfection is not being able to tell the difference between Millwall and Hull then Timmy Mallett is the greatest entertainer that ever lived...

Frank ruling himself out of Fulham job, certainly lessens the odds , makes it probable more than possible I would think.

Perhaps we need Slot and Amorim to rule themselves out before we can say that.

[edit; and just a couple of minutes after I posted that Slot ruled himself out according to Talksport...}

I just can't see his heart would be in it, if he started badly at Fulham in the first 6 to 8 games he'd probably be gone, yet with us he knows(and thinks he will) be able to survive this time and has everyone here behind him to do it...THEN he can move on and he'd get another offer no doubt if a much bigger club comes in, even then though with how the club is progressing he may still feel his project here isn't yet done..

If he does, I just hope it’s done quickly and not an ongoing saga. The Brighton thing seemed to go on for ages (or maybe it just felt like that because of the anxiety).

Tough one to call - lots of reasons for him to go there, but many for him to stay.
