What do you see as the key differences between KM and GON 11:28 - Jun 26 with 2861 viewsJohn_Warks_Willy

For me, there was something uniquely relatable about KM - like an old uni mate who just happened to be a great coach, but clearly the same guy he always was when you got him back for an all night FIFA session.

GON feels less relatable (to me), but probably draws a harder line and has a more traditional authority about him ie separate from the players. This may well be what we need 🤞

Hard to describe exactly what I mean, but hopefully you get the point.

Observations of each, not criticisms please. One characteristic or style is not necessarily better than another (within reason), and they’re allowed to be different…

How long do you think GON will get if we are getting battered the first 10 games?

Well precisely, he'd be gone before it even got to 10 games.

Really unfair to say he's just going in to do a job as if it's a bad thing.

McKenna was ready to leave Suffolk after 2 years in the middle of our championship promotion push. AND - we were the club that gave him his big break.

Naive to think this isn't just simple two way relationship that's fine while it makes sense for both parties and isn't once it doesn't.

Aug, Sep and Oct we have 9 league games. By the end of that I envisage we will have 6 points unless we bring in some real gems the coming weeks. I really HOPE we get it right on the playing side this time as last time was pitiful.

Regardless - my main takeaway is that GON is probably a better bet than KM to keep us up this season.

And if we can do that, then we really have an opportunity to crack on.

So you don’t think the 5 million per year contract helped keep KM in the area, he was going to palace before that contract was put to him.
Another key difference ( and I loved KM by the way) was that ipswich could only go one way with the heavy investment whereas GON is nearly on a hiding to nothing now starting after a successful previous manager.
