Anyone else reminded of us last season watching England? 09:12 - Jul 2 with 674 viewsTractorJack

Concede from first opposition chance. Sometimes playing in to trouble at the back. Look slow and lethargic against low block but actually when you zoom out have created enough chances and keeper pulls off a couple of blinders. Subs making a good impact. Eventually find a way to get the job done.

The Congo keeper would have loved Azon.

He could have pulled off some more worldy saves vs him.

Poll: Will Paul Lambert be Ipswich Town manager on the final day of this season ?

There's a lot of talk of the subs coming on and making a difference, and England's wide players looking better off the bench, but to your point about the parallels with us there's a job for the starters to beat them up a bit. Its like Philogene & Clarke where we often saw the replacement coming in and looking more dangerous than the starter, then clamours for them to start the next game.

When the game is getting stretched its always going to be easier to come on and make an impact, like Rashford did against Croatia or Gordon last night. I think we just need to get the balance right with the starters and finishers, its going to be incredibly important in the next game at that altitude, the changes on 60 - 65 are going to be vital. I don't think we can afford to be behind with 20 minutes to go on Monday, they'll 'manage' the game out better on their own patch and the housery will be next level. We need a fast start, get in at half time at worst level.

Great start. by bsw72 1 Jul 17:20
The good news is that we as Town fans have just lived through a season of teams snatching a goal against us and then dropping deep. It’s like Déjà vu. Oh well.

It took 4 years for McKenna to learn that you sometimes have to defend to get a result. Last year we were better at the back. England remind me of Euros 2016 against Slovakia under Hodgson with Rooney as Captain. For most of that game we had 9 in attack and the only hint at a midfield was a holding CB. 2nd half yesterday though we looked like a unit at times with a decent shape in and out of possession but we're still a bit scary at times.
