I haven’t watched speedway since the 80s, cycling over the heath to Foxhall Stadium. It’s obviously still going. Is it a bit like ice hockey and has a fairly small but madly fanatical set of fans? Is it still largely the same?

Yes.

Although the sport is dying in the UK, decades of self-preservation decisions by those who run it haven’t helped.
