| We better get pretty active soon 14:32 - Jul 13 with 4550 views | itfcsuth | Season begins in under 6 weeks, the squad is currently a long way from competing in the Premier League. Pre season has begun, pre season camp begins next week, new manager, new players needed, in the space of less than 6 weeks. It's looking like a big task right now. | | | | |

That is not our doing, them is the rules we play by when at least 2 clubs likely several for any target, agents, and players and to an extent their family are all involved.

| We better get pretty active soon on 21:03 - Jul 13 by itfcsuth | Just a nonsense generalist statement that’s been plugged out of ChatGPT I’m afraid. The reality is you’d have hoped we’d been a little more active than we have been to date, especially with the big job we have ahead of us - I’m afraid to blame lack of activity on the World Cup at this point is out of the Ashton textbook of excuses. |
It's a bit unfair to assume lack of signings is not being active. Yes we are in the EPL but there are at least 17 more attractive teams than us. So for us to get decent players is not going to be easy. We will have to offer better conditions than our opposition to entice players of worth and even then they may still see us as a big risk. There are probably another 30 teams in Euro leagues that also are looking at the same players. We really need at least 11 now. I am usually optimistic but can't see us getting more than 8 players this window and 4 in January. I would be surprised and very happy if we do better. We have to go for quality rather than the dregs.

| We better get pretty active soon on 08:55 - Jul 14 by Wright1 | Spurs have done more than 5 by themselves. It's not a disaster there aren't more in the door yet... but the silence is a bit concerning (we are PL now - these deals rarely appear out of nowhere with the amount of resources that are put in to reporting on the PL). |
The silence doesn't concern me. I recall Tim Howard telling a story about his recruitment to Man Utd where he was informed of their interest personally and told that if the story made it into the press that the deal would be off. I can completely understand the desire for secrecy until the deal is over the line. My concerns regard Ashton's previous dealings and the list of targets that we are connected to. It's difficult to look at the body of work since we have benefited from Premier League money and feel confident about his ability to negotiate deals. Since bringing in O'Neil, we have been linked with numerous Ligue 1 players, which informs me that he has a significant role in choosing targets.

| We better get pretty active soon on 14:45 - Jul 13 by WolfieAtTheBack | ANY business that loses it's management team and need to build a new staff in 6 weeks and make them productive are going to say it is not possible, that is what we are up against and we seem to have one bloke trying to do it all on his own. The 3 down votes on this post are adamant that losing your manager and having few (if any) premier league players in the playing squad is a good thing and fixing all of that in a 6/7 week period is a really simple task? Just so I understand where we are at as a fan base right now as that is bonkers. [Post edited 14 Jul 14:22]

I've literally already explained why I downarrowed it. Perhaps others think your idea that it's "one bloke trying to do it all on his own" is nonsense as well.
