I’ve criticised him over his handling of the Farage meeting (more for the poor judgement and lies that followed than the visit), I have never warmed to him and doubt I ever will. Walking away from PR after the game yesterday we were discussing how far we’d come in a few years. The last game before Covid was a defeat at home to Coventry who despite a really rough few years has overtaken us and were going back to the Championship. A few days before that we’d lost at home to Fleetwood. The club was going nowhere and in seemingly terminal decline with a decaying stadium, huge debt and an ageing, declining , disillusioned fan base. If you’d told me then that new owners and a new leadership team could get us re-established as a mid-table championship club I’d have bitten your hand off.
What Gamechanger and Ashton have delivered in 5 years is incredible. I didn’t think I’d ever see us in the premier league again, let alone with a team of quality players like we now have and with a revamped and ever-improving stadium. Ashton has been such an integral part of that, arguably to the extent that without him maybe none of what we are enjoying now would have happened.
Time for me and others to move on, put the past in the past and appreciate what he’s delivered. I won’t be upvoting any “greatest CEO of all time” posts but equally am not going to respond to them with comments about his personality or mistakes. [Post edited 23 Aug 9:02]

I was disgusted by what happened with the Farage visit and found it really hard to accept what he'd done. But almost 60 years of following the Town, I couldn't just walk away.
I really hope Ashton has learned from that - and he seems to be keeping a lower profile now. But as you say, there is no denying that his drive and dedication has totally transformed the entire club. So yes, time to move on, everyone makes mistakes, let's now be united as a fan base and club - this could be a defining season for us. |  |

I’ve just realised that posting about him could reignite the debate and lead to yet more back and forth about him. There’s an irony in my post too that one of the issues I have/had with him is his “main character syndrome” and then I fuel it by starting another discussion about him! | |
