My Leicester supporting mate reckons they’ll struggle to sack him because of the lucrative contract they’ve given him.
It’s an odd one with Russell Martin. He first came on my radar when the Guardian did a feature on him as MK Dons manager in league 1 and I seem to recall they were enjoying ridiculous percentage possession stats that were up there with Barcelona, as the highest in European football.
Subsequently did a great job at Southampton in denying Leeds that final promotion spot with us a couple of seasons back, but it’s dramatically fallen apart for him since then.
It might all turn around for him at Leicester in the next few months but the vast majority didn’t want him to start with, so it will probably turn even more poisonous in the coming weeks.
One final point, my mate said the only game they’ve enjoyed this season was the Carabao cup game against us because we let them play out from the back unlike the league 1 teams who’ve swarmed on them and pressed them into giving up possession in hideously exposed situations… |
Did okay at Swansea as well. He has had two disasters, Rangers and Leicester. Leicester looked like a disaster waiting to happen, suprised he took the job. |  |
