That's when it doesn't matter which way round your partner is...

Today, in short form, the day is the same as the year so if you happen to be in Japan, where they put the year first and the day last, it doesn't matter for once compared with the normal way of stating it.

At least they keep things in a logical order, unlike those muddle headed Yanks who put the month before the day and then throw the year in out of order.
