I’d never want us to lose a game but 07:19 - Mar 4 with 623 viewsCopfordBlue

if Lambert is here until the end of the season I really hope we don’t finish strongly. Play offs are out of reach but if we win a few and end up within within a handful of points of sixth place, I’m worried it’ll be enough to convince Evans he should give him more time. If we beat Coventry on Saturday, which oddly I have a feeling we will, it will mean more of his meaningless sound bites about potential, fine margins etc etc.

Lambert will not get us promoted if he has the duration of his contract to do it. Nice bloke and I feel for him a bit as this is clearly his last chance as a manager and it’s obvious that he’s not up to it (although that was evident from Stoke, Villa, Wolves, we should never have touched him).

He needs to go today. The season has gone. Put a caretaker manager in charge but not one who’d want the job or be capable of it full time and start recruiting now for a new manager to join in the summer. The reason we don’t want someone who’d want the job permanently coming in now is if they get a few results Evans will appoint them. The next manager has to be a strategic appointment based upon a clear, recent, track record of success in League One.

This is the worry, that he can convince Evans that we're still an ongoing project that he'll turn around eventually. Hopefully it's very clear to Evans, as it is with everyone else, that the chances of that happening are absolutely minimal and that his position is untenable.

I'd put Butcher in charge for the rest of the season, tell him to start building for next season, and then set about finding a permeant replacement. The fans know we're not going to make the playoffs now so stop with the 'there's still a lot of points to play for' b0llocks and admit that there's been a monumental fck up and we're going to try and put it right.

Play some of the youngsters who could break through next season and replace the players who we will lose and who we want rid of at the end of the season. Simpson, Dobra, McGavin, Dozzell if we're not looking to offload him, and any others who could step up. Give Norwood and KVY the rest of the season off to get fully fit and ready for next season.

It's going to be a toxic atmosphere for the rest of the season but replacing lambert will at least mean that the anger is aimed at Evans and fans will give the youngsters time to develop.

I love Butcher but he’d be the worst type of appointment. Win a few between now and the end of the season and we’d be in the same position Man U are in with OGS.

I'd put in Burley ahead of Butcher as care taker.
