hand sanitiser usage 17:29 - Mar 13 with 993 viewspositivity

heard something on 5 live that ideally, hand sanitiser shouldn't be left on your skin for more than 15 mins before you need to wash off with soap.

anyone know anything further? it was something to do with it being less effective than soap and water and changes to the natural balance of your skin through overuse

Soap breaks down the virus and water washes it away. Hand Sanitiser must have a high percentage of alcohol to kill the virus. You are actually better using soap and water.

Also heard on R5l - apply moisturizer *before* applying sanitizer, as it'll help protect your skin against drying, chapping, splitting, getting itchy (an increasing problem appatently, as people use it more). It's of no use when applied after sanitiser.
