The West's fondness for a high standard of living - for themselves - with concomitant big wages, added to their love of cheap prices in the supermarket. So we import cheap labour from elsewhere and treat them like sh1t.
But, on the other hand, it allows the less well off from those places to earn what is, in their home countries' terms, good money, to improve their own standard of living (or to stave off poverty). |  |

Most of these workers are under 40 and are therefore more likely to die of a heart attack rather than Covid-19. So as long as they remain in a group I don't see an issue.
