Resumption of the season 11:12 - May 7 with 732 viewsTMWWNGAS

So nobody knows if or when football can safely resume..

Why not suspend the season until it is safe to resume.. whenever that may be.. all clubs are on the same boat contractually, and financially, rather than scrap it?

I also don't get the costs for staging the games.. why do they need to open up stadiums? If they need to play the games why not training grounds? Granted this may encourage people to try and watch but even at stadiums you could watch through the corners etc.

Just a thought

There are some quite big hidden costs in staging a match. Player bonuses (wins, goals, appearances, etc.) could be one of the higher ones.

Stadiums have all the recording/broadcast infrastructure in place, rather than having to send camera crews out to locations where the only view is at ground level (unless you start hiring cherry-pickers) and nothing is under cover. Plus all the matchday facilities for players, medical staff, etc. are there.

I still think it's a non-starter, tho.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

That's a fair point hadn't thought of that.. though still don't get why they can't just resume the season where it left off once it's safe to do so!

Probably they fear that player wages will have bankrupted too many clubs by then. Won't even be able to afford the severence pay to offload them.

I think the same. Everyone seems to be waiting for the EPL to make a decision.

Whatever they decide, some clubs will be happy and some will be pee'd off.

The ones with money may also be speaking to Lawyers.

Many players contracts end on June 30th. There are also clauses in the TV deals.

The season is over, just waiting for those in charge to wake up and smell the money saying goodbye.
