Can we call it “fascism” yet? Pt. 19426 on 04:01 - Aug 4 with 806 views | Oldsmoker | As the article stated, there is a law in the US that they can't spy on their own citizens except if they're working for a foreign power or are linked to a banned organisation. No such law exists in this country. The UK is further down the rabbit hole than the US. However, with great power comes great responsibility, and for the moment, the UK spy agencies appear to respect that maxim whereas the US under Trump not so much.

Yes but rules and laws are there for us to follow, not them.

That is true. It was perfectly illustrated by Blair, Iraq and the enquiry that followed. If the UK spy agencies are involved in something dodgy on behalf of the UK govt. then surely there would be some whistleblowing. In the US, there has been lots of whistleblowing, as well as a clear and open policy from Trump to place the control of important institutions in the hands of people who will follow his orders even if those orders are illegal. It's definitely Authoritarianism but as long as there are elections, then we can't call it Facism (yet).
