trying to ignore the obvious about how absolutely hopeless he has been here and everywhere else except norwich, ignoring the mess he has created as well.
It comes down to 2 things with a job like this, you maximise the assets and go all out for a quick return to the championship. Probably involves some sort term fixes of expensive experience loans and some win at all costs football. This option usually involves a short managerial contract because if it doesn't work you are out.
Or you look to build something, it might take years but everything you do is about putting that strategy in place. It might mean casting aside some strong players to find others that fit the system better, it is abkut seeking particular players for the system and to do a defined role. This often means naive defeats while you learn to play the role but also sticking to the style. Managers get long contracts so they don't lose their nerve and stick to the strategy.
For us this 2nd option would mean faith in kids because we won't be able to buy the equivalent experienced talent. Create the style and find the kids to fit, build them, let them flourish and give them confidence to play.
As it stands we have kids without numbers, kids subbed at half time or subbed on and off a short while later. We have players like judge or sears mile ahead in the plan than El Mizouni or Dobra. We have players like Woolfenden being knocked down so they don't flourish too far. We have Dozzell being chopped and changed and not finding a place or being sent out. If you have a 5 year deal and still don't have the conviction to have a strategy then you are not the guy for the role |  |

I am not convinced Lambert is the right man either, but he is here, so might as well get behind him for now. The problem is, he has a 5 year contract, so probably won't walk. Our owner isn't going to splash the cash on a replacement at the moment, so we are stuck with him for now. I don't see how constantly slagging off the manager helps the players or club, so for now, I back him. Go into the new season as hopeful as ever. | | | |

I saw signs when we first started against Burton. I was watching on iFollow whilst in Spain. Thought we played too much long ball despite the result and we had no developed patterns of play.

I called for him to be loaned in the PH season after his bad injury. I got pelters on here for that as well by certain types of posters. | |
