Germany extending lockdown 15:10 - Nov 25 with 463 views | StokieBlue | Germany are extending their "lockdown light" (which looks like tier 3 at a glance) until the 20th December. That will mean all pubs, restaurants etc will remain closed until the 20th December. Germany suffered it's record deaths yesterday (410). It's interesting how different countries tackle the virus. Here it seems like we will be opening pubs in most regions from the 2nd December even though we've had more than 410 deaths on numerous occasions over the last few weeks. Here we also have the government allowing 3 households to mix for Christmas whilst SAGE members who are advising them are on TV urging people not to meet up with other households at all and calling it a "recipe for regret" and "snatching defeat from the jaws of victory".

Almost certainly not. US had over 2100 deaths yesterday, yet they seem to have virtually no restrictions in place for Thanksgiving. Reading an article in the Atlantic they said that the risk of getting C19 from someone who is infected is 20 times greater indoors which fits with what we already know. Given the vaccine is literally a matter of weeks away, it does seem short sighted for us to be opening pubs / hospitality etc. As for the yanks, god only knows what's going on in the head of Trump atm. He seems to have disappeared into a huge sulk and won't be getting involved in any decision making. Their system, of a lame duck president for 11 weeks or so could hardly of come at a worse time. | |
