It's quite reassuring that we're not going through this alone. If anyone's statue is going to be toppled, someone whose programme banned indigenous children from speaking their own language whilst also abusing and mistreating them has got to be close to the top of the list.
As an aside that's pretty much what happened to Welsh kids for decades (Welsh knot), which goes some way towards explaining the nationalist feelings over here. (Although I think the whole conquest and colonisation by Edward 1st, condescending views and repetitive sheep jokes might have something to do with it too). |  |
