As I hadn't made it on his birthday, I went to the cemetery this afternoon to have a bit of quiet, reflective father/son time with CT.
Seemed very busy up there - many obviously visiting their own dad's graves. Some, like me, being the dad doing the visiting. Always makes me wonder what he would've been like - and now as he would've been 6, I imagine quite a character too (as well as a handful). But would've had no choice other than being a town fan and a true junior blue by now!
I'm lucky that I've been spoiled by Yasmin, had breakfast made for me this morning, and spoke to my son on the phone too, as well as having messages from KJ's boys wishing me a happy fathers day, which is special, but I still value that time when I can just dedicate to being alone with CT.

Thank you. KJ still finds it very hard to even go to the cemetery, but I do, as it helps me to just have that quiet space where I can talk to him, knowing I won’t hear anything back, but that’s just the way I work. I do make a particular effort on special days to try to get there for a bit.
This was the first year I’ve missed going on his birthday, and I always do on Christmas Day as long as we’re not away, and on Fathers Day too. | |
