Olympic Athletes Safety Pins 12:01 - Jul 31 with 565 views

What’s with the A4 paper pinned to their vests in the sprinting etc? Considering it’s the pinnacle of organised athletics would they not print it to their outfits? Not like their names are changing. Can’t help but feel it would annoy, and it looks odd.

Genuine question for any athletics heads out there

Edit: I get their numbers/lane numbers get assigned at the event. Just the names that seems a bit mad to me

Even if their numbers/lanes get assigned at the event, it is still pretty stupid. Seems like it is administrative protocol left over from the 1700s

They essentially have the same format in the swimming, but they aren't swimming with paper pinned to their trunks.

It could easily be done.
