Crucified in Cambridgeshire on 23:03 - Dec 8 by Nthsuffolkblue | Didn't realise it was widespread across the Empire. Are there any records of them and what crimes they were enacted for? |
That specific individual, no. But generally it was for people who were not formal Roman Citizens (they were usually beheaded or, in the army, beaten to death). As for being widespread, the best-known example was in the Province of Judea, which was a fair way out on the eastern fringes of the Empire. | |
