How long can the government there continue to maintain its grip, there does seem to be a much stronger youth movement with a more progressive outlook in the country now. It feels like moves like this will continue to sow seeds or resentment amongst the younger population.

Yes we have seen this before and dissent has always been uncompromisingly crushed but it is possible the Chinese people are more aware than ever of their lack of freedom against the rest of the world,

Hong Kong has lots of youngsters who are fully aware of their lack of freedom and it didn't change anything.

You're also assuming the younger generation in China all want the same freedoms people have in the West, a huge percentage are very happy with what they have now.

Although if we try this approach to some things in the UK it might actually work
