Taking my dad to PR for his first ever trip on Saturday. Will take him in either stand, any points of difference between the two or pros/cons of each? I’ve only ever been in SBR lower [Post edited 22 Mar 2022 10:02]

The Cobbold is tight on legroom, narrow staircases etc. it’s 50 years old and shows it’s age, sadly. However, as long as you are not behind a support right at the back, the view is good.
The West Stand has somewhere to mooch about at half time, getting in and out of it is easier and the seating marginally better. The middle tier has the best view and if you wind up in the upper tier, the closer to the front of it the better. The lower section of the West Stand is ok as you are close to the action, but the further back the better.
Of the two, the West Stand would be my preference. |  | | |

Thé East stand has a decent field of view and no pillars. The west stand is utterly hopeless. As it has a poor field of view and pillars.
Watch out for being blinded by the sun on sunny days though. And a bit of patience required whilst editing to get out. |  |

I'd also say West stand for the same reasons, particularly as you and your Dad won't get sun in your eyes.
There's also the large concourse/practice pitch space behind it and, of course, the Fanzone area which you and your Dad could have a wander through even if you don't have a beer.
In any case, I hope you have a great time taking your Dad to his first Portman road experience. |  | | |
