Promising performance 18:39 - Aug 13 with 544 views | xrayspecs | The new team is starting to 'gell' - consistent selection helping. The new players are settling into the side - Ladapo deserved a goal for his selfless performance today, Leif gets better every game, Harness will score plenty of goals. We still have Ball and Keogh to come into the side. And another striker perhaps. The intensity of the press in the heat today was outstanding. As was our passing and movement. Hard to know what to make of MKD. This is their third successive league defeat and they are yet to score a goal. They are much changed from last season and are a year behind us now in building their new side. They will be fine but not sure they are top 6 this season. Have mentioned before that we need to improve against the top sides and those promoted compared to last season. We have 4/6 points from Bolton and MKD, an improvement of three points from last season. We beat FGR, having got 4/24 points against promoted sides last season. So another step forward. Next up Burton and Shrewsbury away, which yielded us just one point last season. Neither will be easy games and will present a different challenge to the first three games, where Bolton, FGR and MKD attempted to play football. A couple of draws would not be the end of the world but I would like to think we can get a point or two more from them to continue the upward trend. [Post edited 13 Aug 2022 18:44]

Football isn’t like this but we need 5/3 to maintain 2 points average through to end of Aug. 2 wins or 1 win and 2 draws works, being unbeaten into Sept would be a solid start. Say it quietly, but this is starting to look like early season form of the back of a decent preseason with a near complete squad. | |
