The general thrust of his point is obviously right and it was a terrible decision/another poor reffing performance but not sure why we deserve special treatment when it comes to refereeing appointments. I'm also not sure where the EFL is going to find these mythical better refs from. The standard of officiating is absolutely dire in the EFL across the board. Yesterday's official was one that largely has been in the league above.

And the ref was an experienced championship level ref… although maybe the reason he now does league one is he was “demoted”?!!

The most troubling thing is Neil Hair, who was the referee who failed to see anything wrong with Shrewsbury’s tackle on KVY last week was given another refereeing appointment the week after, he did Northampton v Doncaster yesterday.

I have never seen a ref in England that seemed so obsessed with his appearance. Prior to kick off he was strutting around like Foghorn Leghorn, chest puffed out, the most ridiculous posturing. I wondered if we were gonna have a knob end running the game, and so it proved. I just hope the EFL watch the full match video, and that he gets what he deserves, relegation to the conference.

He ruined the game, simple as that.

I saw him outside the Novotel strutting around in his tracksuit and thought he was going to be one of “those” referees.

Yeah you can tell when you’re going to get a ref like that. The way he was blowing the whistle so hard like he was taking a breathalyser test and things like blowing on every throw in to point at where it should be taken from.

He was absolutely desperate to make it all about himself and in the end he did. Unfortunately refereeing is one of those professions that attracts egotistical psychos that get a kick out of being the centre of attention.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

I see it the same as you in terms of special treatment, but actually think it is the reverse of this. Refs see a big crowd and are consciously aware of the pressure this can place on them to make a “home” decision. Their mindset is therefore bias upfront to not give a decision, hence Leif being chopped in half, and a perfectly good goal chalked off.

No good waiting for the EFL etc to do anything. They won’t. Regardless of how poor an official is, they will close ranks, and he’ll be strutting around another Lge 1 pitch next weekend, taking selfies of himself.
