Whilst not exactly sparkling, that was a good comfortable win against a team that will almost certainly end up in the top 6.

A fair bit of chat on here about Jackson after the game, and whilst it is difficult to ignore the missed penalty and post hitting when easier to score for the goal, I thought he had an excellent game overall. His pace gave us an outlet, he was involved in lots of intricate passing moves to get behind them, and his continual pressing was top. You can see why some criticise him, but more than that you can see exactly why McKenna really rates him.

Great to get back keeping clean sheets, and the defence was rock solid all game, with Morsy and Evans doing a fantastic job of stopping runners, sticking the foot in, and generally stopping Derby getting a foothold in the game. Morsy characteristically grabbed the gam by the scruff in the second half and really drove us forward. It will be interesting to see how we look with both possibly missing on Tuesday.

Centre forwards - Like many others I still think we need another option up top. John-Jules still hasn't completely convinced me if I'm honest, he's not bad but he rarely looks threatening. That said our ball retention in their half was miles better with him on. Ladapo again struggled when coming off the bench. Neither are bad players at all, and I'm happy that they are in our squad, but we could be putting games to bed much easier with a better CF option.

First 5 minutes I thought Derby were going to give us some serious problems, but we quite quickly got the measure of them. It was interesting that they seemed to change approach to be less direct as the game went on - clearly they were trying to play the Paul Warne way, though perhaps don't have the players to do it really effectively just yet?

Not sure Derby will finish top 6 personally. They reminded me a lot of us when we came down. They do some neat stuff but without a huge amount of threat. Their defence was far from solid. They didn't appear to have a lot of depth relying on clearly unfit players like McGoldrick and Hourihane and (due to the manager's choice of how to use his subs) carrying an injured Davies playing up front at the end of the match. Their number 6 was fantastic and if they lose him their defence will be very poor.

Jackson spot on. He created the goal (albeit should have scored it himself) and should have had another when he shot wide. He did better than Ladapo did when he came on.

I also agree about the midfield. If we could get a better goal threat from the attacking trio then we would be an even better side and we are currently 2nd best in the league. It was a good, solid performance. For much of the game I felt it could go Derby's way just as the Lincoln match did but we upped our game and won it. Well done, Town!

It was especially lovely to win on TV and to beat Warne and Derby.

You are so right about Jackson. I thought it summed up perfectly why he is a divisive figure. He was essential to the gameplan and I felt more aggrieved for him than us that he didn't score. He was excellent tonight. I think Sky showed a graphic early on showing he had scored 23 in 134 for us. For all his excellent play, he has got to start taking these easy chances.

JJ is a bit puzzling. He seems to lack good decision making in the box, but we also don't find him enough. He also has a habit of making some needless bad tackles in the opposition's half. Part of me thinks he is suddenly going to click into gear and start scoring every week, but it is getting harder to believe. Harness had some lovely moments but his execution was off. Feel like he is going to be a streaky player but his quality and commitment is there to see.

Defending was mega, including Morsy, my only criticism being that we were a bit clumsy in the tackle at times, and that some of the passing at the back was high risk. Gifting them a goal was probably the only way they were likely to score, although that seems a bit like throwing stones in a glass house given the result.
