How does the Government respond? Listen to the striking nurses and fund the service properly? No. Threaten to remove the right to strike instead.

Still, they got a clap every Thursday night for a few weeks.

I would dearly love to be able to say that the staffing levels and skill mix found in this tragic incident coming from a lapse in essential care
(I dislike the term 'basic' in this context. And as an adjective related to nursing care in general)an outlyer.

My job as an outreach nurse should be in an advisory/advanced skills kind of role, aiding and supporting junior people on the wards with tricky stuff. What we're actually doing, right now, is fire fighting.

When it's raining petrol.

In a match factory.

They're not. FTT,.

I note that the number of people buying private healthcare or paying for their own treatment has reached record levels (largely driven by waiting lists).

Doesn’t seem to be an accident to me - underfund to the point where people feel obliged to pay for care, and slowly privatise the system. Seems to me that we are heading for a 2 tier health system like the US. Only a lunatic would vote to continue this at the next election.
