is a depressing read today.

It looks like the future is either

The Let's Lock Up Strikers Bill, the Rwanda Is Only The Start Bill and the We Were First With Austerity Bill (on the one hand)

or

The Take Back Control Bill, the I'm Not Jeremy Corbyn Bill and the We Like Austerity Too Bill (on the other).

Stitch up as we focus all our UK politics into the same narrow centre-right position. That coincidentally best serves both parties’ donors, backers and MPs at the trough of public finance and deals for mates.

And Murdoch et al will get the Culture Wars, immigrant/Muslim gaslighting and petty politicking that will distract everyone and stop them looking at the socio-economic issues we’re still avoiding.

All aboard HMS Managed Decline! What a trip we have in store.

My personal favourite is Sunak sandbagging his targets such as halving inflation.

Economists all expect inflation to be below that threshold, and is being driven by factors outside government control - end of Zero COVID policy in China and falling commodity prices. For his next trick he’ll promise us interest rates may go up or down.

He won't accept the causes (or part thereof) of existing inflation but will expect plaudits for it falling.

He must think the British electorate are mostly stupid ....

Would that be the British electorate who voted for Bremit and then for Johnson?

That's them.

Bremit? Is that the new name for the Royal Mail?

Bremit - the withdrawal of the German state of Bremen from the European Union.

Not to be confused with ..

Brenit - a short-sighted campaign to have Brenner Woolley replaced as a Radio Suffolk football commentator.
