Were the assistant referees supposed to determine offside decisions in that?..... surely a basic reas to curtail the game, the referee should be in serious hot water for his dubious decision making on this issue . I'm sure this used to be factor in pre match Inspections for fog? |  | | |  |

Agreed. And quite apart from the difficulty of seeing whether a player was in an offside position, even more difficult was knowing when the ball was kicked if it came from deep. [Post edited 22 Jan 2023 11:07]

Tbf it also illustrates our mindset to keep plugging away at the same plan.. Did anyone think we'll let's load up on the other side of the pitch to the lino and launch it up to them and see if it could make something happen, at the very least the ball would be further from our goal. | | | |

Game should have been called off around the 70th minute but it was noticeable that the ref came over to the assistant to check visibility across the pitch for himself. The assistant presumably convinced him it was ok? |  | | |

That's a good idea, given our normal game just wasn't working. |
Our players aren't as streetwise? Or maybe need to be given the freedom to make their own adaptations in circumstances like that? (when KM couldn't even see the play on the far side of the pitch!).
But the time's come when I do think KM needs to start being more flexible & prepared to shake things up to do something differently mid-game when required |  |

Weren't we playing towards the open, fan-free end in second half (says something that I can't remember because you could barely see the goal, never mind if there was anything behind it!). If we had genuinely scored & the ref hadn't seen it happen because of the fog, I wonder if he'd have even given it? | |

We were. And the nature of the stadium made the fog worse because, as well as the absent stand, the three stands are far apart, all of which made it easy for the fog to flood in. I think the problem would have been much less in a normal stadium bowl (to use the term the club use). | | | |

I was sat level with the half way line(couldnt get ticket for away end) and i couldnt see either goal or anything on the other side of the pitch. Couldnt see any of the goals, all i could see was davis in the first half and burns in the 2nd. It was kind of surreal, never been to a game like that before in 40 years. Then half hour walk back to the hotel in that fog afterwards was quite testing!. |  | | |

We should have walked too! Instead, the bus we waited ages for only got us into town just in time to catch the 18.32 to Paddington.
