Do we use too many subs? 13:18 - Feb 6 with 682 viewsMarshalls_Mullet

I guess its probably the norm now, but I wonder if its disruptive.

At half time, 50% of the outfield starting XI go out for the second half knowing that they will likely only get another 15-20 mins. Does that impact on their performance?

Id love to see us give the majority of the starting XI most of the game to implement the strategy and dig in for a win.

Not saying its fact, just a hypothesis.

Think it's something that really depends on how the game is going.

We've seen in some games where we've taken certain players off. We've lost the ball. Dropped deeper and deeper and lost the lead

But we've also seen v Oxford at home ( or Cambridge. What ever game it was that Edwards got 2) that it can have a positive effect.

What I personally feel is we aren't leaving ourselves the right options on the bench.

Imo you just simply can't leave the quality of Aluko and luongo out of the squad.

a niche perspective

I think we were making more effective substitutions earlier in the season, but some of those have changed due to personnel not being available. (e.g. Bringing TJJ on after 60-70 minutes for one of the 10's seemed to help us get up the pitch to see games out, and Leigh coming on for Davis gave us a bit more defensive strength down that side)
