Ball was played forward off a Forest player while the player who ended up receiving it was well offside. Seemed fairly straightforward but took a long time to call the ref over to make a decision. Seemed to revolve around whether a deflection changed it. Why would a deflection change the fact he was offside?

I thought an attacker couldn't be offside if a defender deliberately played the ball (as opposed to a deflection). There were actually two Forest defenders that played the ball deliberately. Who knows! Confused.

There was a Newcastle player who played the ball forward. Whether a defender kicked against that player is irrelevant isn't it? I guess the question was whether the Newcastle player actually played it but it looked to me that he did (deliberately or otherwise).

It's the first Forest defender's touch really which could be interpreted as not being influenced by Longstaff. I can see what you're saying about the second one though as Longstaff definitely influenced that one.

Longstaff was in an offside position and deemed interfering with play when the forest player cleared the ball to Isak. Not sure about that one.
That must be why it was given. A wrong decision though - 2 opposition players play the ball before it reached him. If we’re going to have those as offsides then Forest’s goal should have been ruled off too.

It was when Isak played it forward. He intended to cross it but it deflected to a Newcastle player who was clearly interfering as the defender has to clear the ball. He was offside. Seemed fairly clear to me.

Isak crosses it and Felipe clears it. So that’s Felipe deliberately playing the ball imo. He kicked it, it wasn’t a defection. I could see why Longstaff could be seen to be interfering with the defender who then tried to clear it. But that’s irrelevant if Felipe deliberately played the ball, which he did.
