On the topic of extra tickets for away games, does anyone know why West Ham were given some of the south stand in the play offs? Recalled this the other day.
Minimum percentage of the ground (15%?) is/was required for away fans. We had the whole of that stand behind the goal for the leg at Upton Park I think.

I think the away allocation was a minimum of 15% back then so even the whole of the upper Portman wouldn't have been enough. Presumably we could have put some in the lower like for the Lincoln Cup game, but they might have blocked the view of the boxes behind if standing.
The fact that we still had over 30,000 in for that game amazes me - there must have been literally an aisle and a line of stewards, and nothing more, between home and away fans in the Churchman's. I've often wondered how they segregated the turnstiles and concourse for that area.

Cheers both, I was thinking that too. I was a kid and that was my season ticket so remember being upper for the play off games, presuming it was the same in 2004 as well.

Do we know if the 15% allocation is still a rule?
It got reduced to 10% a while ago - I'm pretty sure that still applies.

That game I accidentally went in my usual portman turnstile and didn't realise until I was in the stairwell and West Ham fans all about starting singing racist ditties and their bubbles boll cks. Not much segregation I remember, a friendly steward let me through at the top. Painful memory of that season. We should have gone up automatically.
