Breeding new generation of Town fans 20:13 - Apr 15 with 854 viewsDubtractor

I'm sure I'm not alone in knowing a number of people who are now bringing their kids along to games - in some cases also being dragged back into watching us themselves.

Getting kids back into wanting to follow us is a hugely important step, especially after the major decline in interest and numbers over the latter years of ME's ownership. Part of that is simply about results and performances, but it's also about engagement and getting the club and players visible again.

Of course, getting promoted out of this tinpot league is more important than any of that, but it is lovely to see the interest in the club spreading out into the community again.

Your not wrong. Chaps at work have grandchildren who were all Man City etc, but have been bought back round, enjoying the fanzone, pre match getting their shirts etc ready to come into Town, getting stuff from the shop. Building for the future, off the field, is vital.

Quite a few kids around me today as well some of which are new fans and makes for really great time. You can tell how much better the atmosphere is around the whole club.

Felt a bit under the weather this morning and was touch and go if I was going to the match but so glad I did, one of the best days out for a home game that I can remember for a while.

The whole way the club is now makes me very proud. How it's engaging with the local community, the whole stadium experience, the connection with the fans and the team, it's the first time I can remember it being so good for a long long time.

Yes, the late 90s had that in abundance but in the last 20 years there was maybe 18 months under Magilton and three seasons under McCarthy there even came close. Bits of 14-15 were good but we didn’t build on that, we really have to now.

Teams need these formative seasons, the ones that convert latent interest into something unbreakable, 91-92 did that for me and I want this to be the one for those kids.

My lad is 15. Has let the bants slide off his shoulders from his plastic Arsenal, Utd, City, Liverpool mates over the years. Pointing out he actually goes to games. The tide has slowly turned, some started coming on ticket promotions, ironically initially of course. Then more regularly. Now 3 of them have season tickets for next year.
