Looks like top 2 is out of reach for Barnsley, now. Even if it's not mathematically impossible. It looks unlikely they'll make up the points and goal difference to leap frog both us and Wednesday into 2nd...
Effectively, this could make the Oakwell game a bit of a dead rubber from their perspective. They'd have nothing to gain, having secured 3rd-4th, already.. And there'd be the possibility of injuring key players needed in the POs.
Would a team risk key players, if they had nothing to gain..? And even if they did, would said players be at it hammer and tong.? Especially if it only served to benefit their fiercest rivals in pipping us to top 2
Quite a weird situation they find themselves in.

Albeit not being our fault, I think Barnsley will be quite fired up to get one over us due to the Greg Leigh situation. If they had played and beaten us when they should have fine, both of our season’s could have gone differently. Though you do have a point about their players possibly saving themselves for the play offs, if the top two appears out of reach after the weekend. |  |
