Underneath the spreading chestnut tree... on 08:41 - Apr 24 with 470 views | Oldsmoker | If they have these facial recognition cameras at tills then the name on your credit card/debit card can be linked to your face. It looks like this could become the norm in years to come. The government is bound to legislate, but if it's the Tories with their recent history of removing our right to protest, being sued if we go on strike etc., then the legislation probably won't be there to protect us but to enable big business to take advantage of us. Independent shops who still accept cash but can't afford to install this kit will probably benefit.

I had thought it just a coincidence that every time I go into Flannels, even if it was just browsing, I was getting an email a couple of hours later from them with their latest deals.

With deepfake software and AI improving all the time, the Gestapo will decide if you've done something wrong.

But if independent shops do benefit from the footfall of customers who are discerning about personal liberties they will also suffer theft to a greater extent as well. So I think this development needs to be squashed at state level rather than through personal choice. [Post edited 24 Apr 2023 19:41]
