Unless the whole of the continent gets it act together and sts up a scheme where each country agrees to take a percentage of refugees based on their head of population, and creates loads of safe routes for refugees, then this will be just one of so many tragedies.

Bloody hell, tragic. It’s a mess. There is already a framework through the Common European Asylum System of course, but it difficult to implement and enforce. It’s also politically charged and not likely to improve any time soon with the populist, anti-immigration stances of some European countries. Overseas aid and diplomacy should have more of a front seat too. People are very quick to attack people escaping persecution, but not so keen to look at why so many people are being displaced. Not easy of course. How the heck do you solve the problems in Syria, for example. Or the fundamentalism in Iran or Afghanistan? But somehow we need to find a way to improve lives for people everywhere.

All women and children below decks. Tragic. There is no political or economic will/incentive to resolve the situation.
