Agreed. I think it might be bound up in the public love for the NHS as an institution, with doctors seen as leading representatives of that institution, so in some ways untouchable or at least unchallengeable. When waiting lists are so high and resource so short, its a daring person who a row with their dr about the course of treatment or care given. The attitude is often that they as the professional knows best and of course that's usually going to be true, but not always.

I'd like to see some of that love and respect taken from drs and given to nurses, with everyone involved be that nurses, drs or patients treated as equals, more often that seems to be the case currently.
