It was good, I convinced myself beforehand that we needed to win this one to take the pressure off Barnsley and felt we were pretty likely to do so - if we played well. And we did, we took our chances, survived their pressure late in the first half and at 2-0 and looked really comfortable by the end.

In normal times that would have been a really good away win to go and celebrate afterwards but there was also a sense, from players and fans, that it was just a good start to an important week.

That second goal was a bit special. Not spectacular, but an excellent through ball and finish.

It was a terrific win against a play of qualifying L1 side.

An excellent away day... arriving in Ipswich by train, we decided to change there instead of Stowmarket. The platform at Ipswich station was heaving! Managed to get a seat and a table for the four of us. The aisles on the train were jam packed. The singing was relentless, beer flowed and Norwich fans were given short shrift at Ely. We arrived in Peterborough around midday, had a few beers in the Drapers Arms as it sounded like the Charters boat bar was rammed.
When we arrived at the ground the atmosphere was electric... the concourse under the stand was jam packed and the singing was so loud and persistent. It felt like the crowd were confident, but not overly so... Momentum had been building over the past 6 weeks and those results away at Bolton and Derby meant we had a belief as a team, we could give anyone a good game away from home.
The match went well, we only had two short spells in the game when Peterborough looked slightly threatening... Jack Taylor summed it up well in his recent interview, having signed for us at last... “They were outstanding when they came to us towards the end of the season when they were on that long run. We couldn’t lay a glove on them, if I’m honest,” Town fans were in excellent voice, that got louder when Ladapo hooked in the third. There seemed to be a palpable belief that we were a decent result at Barnsley away from an automatic promotion place having steamrollered teams home and away in recent weeks.
After a couple of hours celebrating in Peterborough, a nice touch from a policeman when we asked for directions, he smiled and said *The Championship's that way" pointing in the direction of the train station. We stopped in Ely for a couple of beers at The Cutter Inn by the River and had a Curry at the Indian on Fore Hill. A Norwich fan who'd left his scarf in the curry house came in to retrieve it. He saw our Town tops and scarfs and said "Christ that's all i need!" We reminded him of the 3-0 defeat at home to Swansea and gave him a quick rendition of Norwich City, we're coming for you!
We got the last train back from Ely with a few more beers and singing all the way back, that topped off another brilliant day and an Excellent performance from Town. I'd been to Posh a fair few times over the years and never seen us win... this was turning out to be a brilliant end to the season and i couldn't quite believe I was lucky enough to be there.
