Thought we were OK last night 08:31 - Nov 8 with 404 views | thebooks | Started slowly (obviously) and took a bit of time to get the slick passing going. We gave the ball away a lot in those little layoffs we normally do so well (perhaps connected: Chaplin seems a little off the boil – maybe needs a rest?) Rotherham’s tactics were good. But we improved in the second half, and ended up dominating possession while getting the ball into some dangerous positions. I think we did enough to win; their equaliser was just a brilliant shot after the ball bobbled around a bit in an injury time sort of way. I think it’s inevitable that the levels would drop, but at least we’re still scrabbling the points. I’ve got a feeling it’ll be like last season: mini-mid season “slump” and then we’ll end on a really good run. The players have faith in the system, and that it’ll end up getting the results.
Thought we were OK last night on 08:43 - Nov 8 with 349 views | Herbivore | Thought it was a fairly average performance, not our best but not as bad as some are making out. Chaplin was definitely a bit off it, not just with his finishing (which is usually excellent) but a few heavy touches and his clever no look passes weren't really coming off either. It happens and he is one who has played a lot of football so maybe he's just a touch jaded. We largely controlled and dominated the game, the goal had been coming albeit it was a scruffy one when it arrived. Their equaliser came out of nothing really, we probably didn't get enough distance on our clearing header which allowed them to keep it alive and it ricocheted to a lad that has never scored for them and he's hit the top corner. Very frustrating but it happens in football. Need to see a positive response on Saturday, if we pick up a home win it will have been a very good run of games for us between the two international breaks.
