This hasn't been aimed at England under Southgate much. 19:05 - Jun 20 with 1059 viewsTheBoyBlue

But it just looks like they couldn't care less. Almost like it's a holiday for them. Everything is sloppy, slow, going through the motions.

I'm sure it's not the case, but they need to start working a lot harder.

Everyone knows Southgate is leaving after this tournament, whether England win it (no laughing!) or not.

I just wish he would come out and launch a foul-mouthed tyraid after games like this, laying into the players, how they were not following instructions - maybe a bit of shock therapy would be enough to wake them out of their slumber.

Looked like they'd never played, or even trained, together.

Declan Rice looked like he'd never played football before, let alone with the others around him.

I couldn't imagine France or the Netherlands at their most unharmonious putting in a show like that. It's the pace of the game that's so baffling

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

That's the thing. Even if the plan is not working, put some energy into it. Try to make things happen.

That was, after all, how we got the goal - a burst of speed, a seized opportunity, some players coming up in support and hey presto, ball is in the net.

Problem is, they are following instructions.
Southgate is comfortable when his mates Henderson, Maguire, Kane and Rashford roll up for heroic failure.
Give him the genuine talent of players like Foden, Bellingham, Saka, Palmer and Rice and he’s totally out of his depth.
Never understood the love-in really, based on a waistcoat and a couple of favourably simple routes to the latter end of tournaments. Will always come out second best against the first organised team he faces.
The difference now is that he’s even lost the knack of flat track bullying the weaker teams.
