"there will be one objective, HOWEVER IMPROBABLE – to do an Ipswich".

But then the article majors on Leeds, Sheff Utd and Luton rather than Portsmouth, Derby, Bolton or Oxford. I think that Leeds' loss of Gray and Summerville might mean that they will have a bigger fight on their hands than the writer imagines, although he's probably right that none of the sides up from L1 will be in the promotion mix at the death.

What we did last year has given hope to all lower league clubs and especially their supporters.
Get a magical manager and inspired players and anything can happen.

It will put bums on seats and shoes on terraces all over the country.
Hope. That is our legacy.
Be proud of it.

Birmingham in League 1 are really going for it: spending big on the squad, refurb of stadium, ambitious plans to expand, American owners pumping money in. Sounds familiar.

Interested to see how they get on. And when i say interested i mean hoping they fall flat on their face in the horror that is L1.

League one was weak last year. Looks absolutely abysmal this year. Would be amazed (and amused) if Birmingham didn't make it out first time.
