First point of the season 17:17 - Aug 31 with 1970 views | _clive_baker_ | Out of the bottom 3. Bloody enjoyable game actually, really felt like we belong at this level and nice to see the new additions settle in well. 2nd half was really, really good I thought. Either side could’ve won it and on balance 1-1 was right against a good side with a lot of quality. Early days but I think we’ve recruited well. Omari, Delap, Greaves, Phillips all look at home in the premier league, no surprises with Phillips of course. Szmodics has a real engine and Clarke such good quality on the ball, they’ll both bring a lot. More to come from Ogbene I hope, not completely sold on what I’ve seen of him in the past but certainly has attributes we sorely miss beyond Burns. We’ll keep getting better, but if someone said we’re out of the bottom 3 after 3 games you would’ve taken it with our set of fixtures.

Given we still had a few players in the side who have only just arrived, it'll be exciting to see how good we are when they're all up to speed (thinking back to when the January 22 signings clicked and we went on that ridiculous run).

He's not that different to wes in that he has the speed but needs the space. It actually fits well as you're not losing the role regardless of which one plays. Game time and getting him to use the space in front of him and get some balls for him to run on ala Chaplin to burns and it'll work well.

What I find so impressive about Burns is his defensive discipline and impact out of possession. That comes from real muscle memory and knowing the system so well, but he’s unbelievably good in that respect. Don’t expect to see that from Ogbene yet but positionally just not up to speed yet, a bit loose in possession too and a clumsy free kick he gave away in a really dangerous position. I’m not worried about his output with the ball, I think that bit will be fine.

True on the wes side. I'm not sure if ogdene can match that aspect however for someone who's only joined on Tuesday I felt ogdene did solid job working with tuanzebe. It's good to have two solid options. Not quite sure however how this leaves things for johnson....

But we didn't seem to want to play that ball. That bottom end of the table is already shaping up as you would expect it to isn't it? I'd earmarked Southampton, Leicester, Everton, Wolves, Forest as the teams we would be fighting with and 4 of those are in the bottom 6 already.
