Kirkby is on the outskirts of Liverpool, and the article also mentions Ireland where similar attitudes are on display.
I think that is rather sad because Liverpool has been built on immigration (black, Welsh, Irish, Scots, Viking - the by in Kirkby gives it away), and Ireland is a place where immigration to the rest of the world has been going on for decades. [Post edited 25 Sep 2024 12:11]

There are two parts on iplayer. Some of the first and second show feature Ireland and the situation on the ground there.
The documentary as doco's always do has a position but it is not pushed in the viewer's face and is as balanced as it probably can be.

it's having a conversation that those in power are not having with the public and this lack of dialogue ( rather than the easy throw away 'just the stupid thugs & racists' remarks) will not help stop another outbreak of riots.

There an interesting documentary on RTE player about the situation in Ireland. It's called Inside the Protests.
Not sure how easily accessible it is outside of Ireland but we'll worth a watch if accessible |  | | |
