The Bowyer signing is classic of that era, because he'd been at Brum just before it and had looked a cut above over players in his position in the Championship. He comes to us mere months later and he plays like someone's dad. We were just a place for players to earn a lot for as little as they could when Evans was here. I couldn't believe how much he'd lost in such a short space of time, same with Bullard who came in during the same window, which in his defence, he was being played out of position the second season, but still.

Bullard kept us up, he scored quite a few goals that were winners and still had enough touch and guile to be a good player. I really did rate him here.
