In the '60's my mate Paul Temple walked into the school store where they kept old newspapers that they collected for recycling. He had been sent there as a punishment for talking in class to help sort the paper into shiny and non shiny. A bored Paul happened to pick up a copy of a girls comic called "Twinkle".
He was spotted and for the rest of his 70 year old life was known to all his mates as "Twinkle".
Twinkle was a regular at Portman Road with me during the 70's and 80's. We were the "Only Blues in Town" from this part of Norfolk.
On Tuesday he died of a broken heart soon after his wife Kathy, after 44 years together.

I had a ticket for Twink last season. He was hoping to come down for the 'Boro game but he could not get to Norwich Station.
I should have gone to pick him up ............

There was a good reason you couldn't pick him up that day, it's just that you have forgotten it. You got him the ticket. He could have arranged a taxi. Maybe he just couldn't face it, and made excuses?
