I’ve read it all now . From Talk Norwich City 13:23 - Apr 22 with 1336 viewsblueprint

Not content with stinking out the PL twice, we're now working hard(!) to reek out the Champ too. Watch out L1, the stench is coming... Oh, for the 70/80/90's to be back with a smidge more investment and the Canaries would be a worldwide brand by now with a rich European legacy. Alas, all we're left with is the smoking remnants of a TV chef's kitchen, two ha'pennies barely worth rubbing together, and a whole heap of wasted dreams... #WhatCouldHaveBeen #NorwichCity #NCFC #OTBC

But they do have a rich European legacy? Beating Bayern Munich was clearly the greatest achievement by an English team in UEFA competition and Jeremy Goss scored a goal that Pelé could only have dreamed of. And they were so kind and sporting towards their opponents that they decided they didn't need to participate in the tournament any further and withdrew before Christmas to let another team win. Very generous of them.

There's even a Wiki page about it.

As Private Eye might put it, Jeremy Goss was a legend in his own lunchtime.

It still amuses me that we've played as many matches in Europe as a second division club as they have in their entire history.
