Not sure whether to laugh or cry at that.

Sorry but that was absolute dross and they want parity with men money wise.

Was that 5 penalties scored out of 14 or 16? With 5 ft 7 and 5ft 8 goalkeepers!

Absolutely dreadful.

What's that got to do with it?

Still won.
Sixth consecutive tournament semi final.
Current European champions.

Your comments are unnecessary and outdated.

I don’t watch much women’s football so not sure if tonight was typical or an outlier but the standard was poor throughout. Maybe nerves and the occasion playing a part, but looked like 2 really poor sides. Sweden will feel unlucky, they were less sh1t than England on balance.

Still, knockout football, I don’t suppose the England girls will care too much. Good on them.

A good point.

If this penalty shoot out was like Ipswich v Luton compared to normal men's professional football shootouts, then yes the penalties were shocking. But if they are often like this in women's football then the penalties are not shocking, because they are women and there is no comparison with men.

I'm guessing had it been 5-4 on penalties the goalkeeping would have been "shocking".

Didn't think it was any different to International tournament football you get in the men's game to be honest. Cagey, pressure of the occasion leading to occasional lack of composure, the natural meritocracy of it meaning individual skill levels across the team can vary quite a bit, goals coming from mistakes or moments of quality etc.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

The sexist comment is unnecessary. Plenty of men’s football teams can match those cr@p penalties.

I don’t understand the need for people to put down something that others enjoy.

Genuine question, does this happen in other sports? Are male tennis fans like this, or male hockey fans?

It seems to be deep-rooted (whether intentional or not) in feeling that football is a male sport only, and gatekeeping it. It’s super sad - just let people enjoy what they enjoy. If you don’t - that’s cool. I don’t like rugby or cricket. I don’t jump on those threads.

I wasn’t intending to compare it to men’s football particularly, don’t think that’s especially useful.

Just in its own right as a spectacle, a lot of individual errors, I thought both the Sweden goals were so cheaply given away. First half especially England struggled to string a few passes together, didn’t really build any sustained momentum or possession and didn’t ask any questions of Sweden aside from a relatively limp effort off the bar. Extra time was 1 way traffic against tired legs as well, Sweden were by far the stronger. If that’s a boxing match I’d have them well ahead on points.

Yeah it was a poor game; no question. But the game against the Netherlands was the opposite - it’s just sport isn’t it.

I didn’t see that, this is actually the first game I’ve seen in the tournament. It happens, certainly not a reflection of anything broader just an observation that it was as scrappy as and England IMO were 2nd best for the most part. Sweden can count themselves unlucky but as I said it’s knockout football, it’s all about results. Good on them.

Yeah, maybe not the best first impression!

There clearly is a huge disparity between players and clubs, which is to be expected given that even the more successful teams have only recently had injections of cash. It’ll take a while to level out - as we’ve seen in the men’s game too and the smaller countries.

No doubt tonight was poor - and easy ammunition for those wanting to knock women’s football (not directed at you CB), but it’s a journey, and it’s a fun one to be on as an England fan for a change.

Grippingly bad wasn't it 😂 but now a semi against a lesser team on paper, hopefully we've still got the legs for it.
